Celtic should sell Stuart Armstrong if a £4 million bid comes in.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and Stuart Armstrong are seen during a training session at Lennoxtown Training Centre on April 27, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Express reported on Friday that Celtic’s Stuart Armstrong is interesting Premier League side Crystal Palace.

The report added that the Celtic midfielder could fetch as much as £4 million, and for that money, selling up is a no-brainer.

Armstrong is a talented player, but he only has one year to go on his contract according to Transfermarkt and the Hoops would be wise to take the money and run.

Not only that, but the 26-year-old’s form dipped in a big way last season, only netting four goals in all competitions, having scored 17 during the 2016-17 campaign.

Last August, The Sun reported that Armstrong, then wanted by Swansea City, was worth around £6 million and his obvious decline is representative by the significant drop in asking price.

Even if Rodgers can tie him down to a new deal, where’s the evidence that he is going to get back to his best next season? And if he doesn’t, who’s to say that his price tag won’t drop again this time next year?

Some Celtic fans would be sad to see him go this time, but a manager of Brendan Rodgers’s nous in the transfer market can do a lot with £4 million.
