Jurgen Klopp has admitted to Liverpool’s official website that Thiago’s display against Tottenham Hotspur last night was not his best.
Thiago was deployed in a more advanced role yesterday, with James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum behind him.
But the Spaniard was not able to have the influence on the game that Klopp was hoping.
Even though Liverpool won 3-1, Klopp felt that Thiago could have performed better during the contest.
And he said: “Today we played a slightly different position, worked together with Millie and Gini on [the] six really well. That was a proper, proper performance.
“I know Thiago can be much better than tonight, but it was just an important step for all of us. The situation with Thiago was not easy: he came to Liverpool late, then ill, then injured, then playing immediately in a very decisive position,” he said.
“We thought for tonight it might make sense to play him slightly higher on the pitch.”

Thiago is yet to really show Liverpool supporters the very best of his abilities, as he still isn’t fully into the rhythm of playing in the Premier League.
That being said, even on a supposed off night, Thiago still had some impressive moments.
The former Bayern Munich man strung play together fairly nicely, and showed some flashes of class on the ball.
Liverpool’s win over Spurs has given them some momentum back, after what has been a difficult run of results.
