Carlo Ancelotti has told BBC Sport that Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin may be fit to face Manchester City on Wednesday.
Calvert-Lewin picked up an injury in Everton’s game against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup, and there were fears that the striker was set for a lengthy absence.
However, it seems that the problem is not a particularly severe one.
And Ancelotti has even hinted that Everton’s main goalscorer could be back in time for his side’s next game.
“He can be fit but we have to see in the next days,” he said, when asked for a fitness update on his side’s star striker.
If Calvert-Lewin is back that would be great news for Everton, as he was badly missed last night.
The Toffees were downed by Fulham yesterday, and they failed to pose much of an attacking threat against the relegation strugglers.
Everton just never really got going, with Calvert-Lewin’s presence at the top end of the pitch clearly missed.
With City next up, Everton will need to improve hugely if they are to pick up the three points – and Calvert-Lewin’s return would be a major boost to their chances of doing so.
