The West Ham winger is closing in on a return to full fitness.

West Ham United are certainly in need a boost and they could receive one as Michail Antonio nears his return to action.

Antonio has missed West Ham’s last two games with a rib injury but he is closing in on a return to full fitness and should be back available soon.

Like many of West Ham’s players, Antonio has found it difficult to make a major impact so far this season, with the 27-year-old’s struggles summed up by the fact that he has scored just one goal in nine Premier League appearances.

As he has demonstrated in previous seasons Antonio is capable of performing far better, given his tendency to make bursting runs and deliver dangerous crosses, while he can also provide a frequent goal threat when at his best – he scored nine times in the Premier League last campaign, for instance.

Manuel Lanzini was unable to make much of an impact when deployed out wide in the defeat to Watford but once Antonio is back the Argentine could move into a more central position, with Marko Arnautovic on the left flank.

West Ham manager David Moyes is still attempting to work out what his most effective team is but Antonio will certainly give the side an extra edge upon his return.
