Sam Allardyce faces former side Crystal Palace this weekend and defeat could see Everton once again concerned about relegation.
Following their 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal at the weekend, it is now just one win in nine matches in all competitions for Everton.
Having won four of their first five games after Sam Allardyce was named as manager on November 30 and also drawing at Liverpool during that time, the Toffees seem to have reverted back to the sort of form that cost Ronald Koeman his job in the dugout earlier in the season.
Still in tenth place currently in the Premier League table despite their string of poor results, there is no concern at the moment about relegation with a seven point gap between themselves and the bottom three.
Yet could that change this weekend when Allardyce’s former side Crystal Palace are the visitors to Goodison Park in the top tier of English football?
The Eagles are four points behind their hosts presently and have improved a lot since sacking their own Dutch boss in Frank de Boer and replacing him with Roy Hodgson.
Victory for Palace would of course reduce that gap to just a point and depending on results elsewhere, the Merseysiders could suddenly be seriously looking over their shoulders at the drop zone once again not long after it had seemed Allardyce had allayed any fears of that happening.
