Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has been discussing Mikel Arteta and his affiliation towards Arsenal.
Campbell was asked an interesting question during this show ‘is Mikel Arteta and Arsenal man?’
It’s tough to define what the answer to that question is. For some ex-players, such as Ian Wright and Tony Adams, it’s obvious that Arsenal are the club closest to their heart, while for others, such as Cesc Fabregas, the lines are somewhat blurred.
Campbell says that while Arteta wasn’t born an Arsenal man he became one when he took on the captain’s armband in north London.

Arteta an Arsenal man
Campbell gave his view on where Arteta’s heart lies.
“The one thing that people don’t realise enough is that Mikel Arteta was the captain of our club,” Campbell said.
“No matter what you say, he was captain. There’s big responsibility on that more than any other player because you set the standards.
“The captain is the one you can rely on, not being late for derbies and not coming back for whatever protocol. Was he born an Arsenal man? No, did he become an Arsenal man? Yes, because he was good enough, brave enough and smart enough to get the Arsenal armband.”
Passionate
Say what you will about Mikel Arteta, his passion for this club can never be questioned.
The Spaniard showed in the All or Nothing series just how much he loves Arsenal, while he was a great captain during his time as a player too.
Yes, he’s an adopted Gooner having grown up a Barcelona fan, but make no mistake about it, Arsenal are now the club that has Arteta’s heart above any other.
As Campbell says, Arteta is now very much an Arsenal man.
