Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has been discussing Arsenal’s win over Bournemouth at the weekend.

The Gunners were absolutely spectacular against the Cherries on Saturday. They were 2-0 up within 10 minutes and there were a number of incredible individual performances on the day.

Campbell was blown away by almost every player on the pitch at the weekend, but one player he couldn’t give much praise too was Aaron Ramsdale.

Indeed, Campbell quipped that the goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was a mere spectator at the weekend as he only made one save, with the pundit joking that he only made the save so he got his kit dirty on the day.

What’s been said?

Campbell spoke about Ramsdale not having much to do.

“On the scheme of things, Aaron Ramsdale was a spectator, he had just one save to make and that was actually probably going wide, but it was just to get his kit dirty I think. He made that save, but if you don’t get on the pitch and do the business these games can be banana skins, but Arsenal are making it look easy,” Campbell said.

So dominant

Arsenal were so dominant at the weekend we have to imagine that they’d have beaten Bournemouth even if Ramsdale wasn’t on the pitch.

The Gunners smothered Bournemouth to the point that they could barely get out of their own half, and, in all honesty, a 3-0 scoreline flattered the Cherries.

Make no mistake about it, this Arsenal team are looking like the real deal, and while Ramsdale may have been a spectator at the weekend, he’s a top-class goalkeeper who will win this team points in some of the more challenging games this season.

Ramsdale probably enjoyed having the weekend off, and if Arsenal continue to play this well, he may have a few more games where he doesn’t have to do much.
