Kevin Campbell has told Stadium Astro that he would ‘100%’ take Philippe Coutinho at Arsenal amid rumours about his future at Barcelona.

Spanish outlet Sport did previously report that Arsenal are keen on the 28-year-old, who won the Champions League with Bayern Munich in August.

Arsenal have been making moves on the field of play ever since Mikel Arteta’s arrival, with the former midfielder adding an FA Cup and the Community Shield to their cabinet.

But could Coutinho, who was only recently gracing one of the biggest stages in world football in the Champions League final, make a return to England and compete with Arsenal in the Europa League.

“There are rumours of Coutinho,” Campbell told Stadium Astro. “Ronald Koeman’s gone back there and he’s saying ‘everyone has a clean slate’. I’m not so sure.

“If they could do the Coutinho business, would I take Coutinho? 100% I would take Coutinho or is it Aouar, the lad at Lyon. They are converting him aswell.”

Arsenal’s record transfer deals

  1. Nicolas Pepe

    £72 million

  2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    £56 million

  3. Alexandre Lacazette

    £52 million

  4. Thomas Partey

    45 million

  5. Mesut Ozil

    £42 million

Coutinho threw some serious salt into the Barcelona wounds when he scored a brace during Bayern Munich’s 8-2 thrashing of his parent club in the Champions League semi-final last month.

It was a result and performance that sent shockwaves around the footballing world, and no-one at Barcelona has recovered.

It seems as though anyone could leave the sinking Catalonia ship, including Coutinho, and even a certain Lionel Messi, who has been dominating the headlines in recent weeks because he wants out.
