Campbell: I would do this first as Everton manager

Everton are struggling for form and lacking in goals as they remain in 16th place.

Everton icon Kevin Campbell has told fans on Twitter that he would demand money from the Toffees board and splash out on a new striker because “goals truly count”, if he was in charge.

The Merseyside club opted to sell Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in the summer but failed to replace the Belgium international, with Sandro Ramirez struggling to impress and Oumar Niasse hardly seen as Lukaku’s replacement.

Lukaku, 24, scored 23 goals in all competitions for Everton last season and nine for Belgium during the 2016-17 campaign, and he has continued that form with 17 goals in 23 games for club and country this season.

Everton are certainly missing their former target man and Campbell believes that replacing Lukaku must be one of the first things the next Toffees manager does, if they are to steer clear of relegation from the Premier League.

The Telegraph claim Everton are looking to re-open talks with former England boss Sam Allardyce after the Premier League expert publicly stated that he did not want the Toffees job.

In the meantime, Everton play host to West Ham at Goodison Park on Wednesday night which sees former manager David Moyes return to Merseyside in just his third game in charge of the Hammers.
