The USA international was drafted in on loan from Stoke City and has fitted in well alongside Massimo Luongo at Queens Park Rangers.
Queens Park Rangers have often been praised for the attacking recruits they managed to draft in this summer, but much appreciation must fall in the direction of Geoff Cameron, who has been a rock in front of the back four so far.
QPR boss Steve McClaren was able to bring in defensive midfielder Cameron on a season-long loan from Stoke City and, so far, the move is paying off. Cameron needed a few weeks to find his fitness but he has been in the team ever since.
A seasoned pro with a wealth of experience, Cameron has featured in six of QPR’s last seven Championship matches, in which time the R’s have picked up three victories. McClaren’s side have also kept the same number of clean sheets in that run of games.
Cameron’s partnership alongside Massimo Luongo also appears to have brought the best out of the Australian international.
Luongo had an indifferent start to the season but the 25-year-old is looking back to his best alongside Cameron.
QPR know just how tough a season they can expect, but the signing of Cameron has proved a small masterstroke, with the USA international settling in very well at Loftus Road.
Saturday’s equaliser against Derby County further demonstrates how vital Cameron can be at the other end of the pitch.
There is still a long way to go, but McClaren and fans of the west Londoners can be confident a fit Cameron will be paramount to their season.
