Cameron Young bogeyed his final hole at the Canadian Open on Sunday when a birdie would have been enough to force a play-off with eventual winner Ryan Fox and Sam Burns, much to the anger of the 28-year-old.

Young’s form has declined in recent years, and as a result, he has only four top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour to his name since June 2024.

However, he put on a great display in Canada. The New Yorker finished in a tie for fourth, after a sensational final round of 65 – but had he kept his cool, it could have been much better.

He was extremely unlucky on the 18th hole on Sunday, where he hit two wonderful shots, but ended up with a bogey six.

Cameron Young’s fury at the Canadian Open 2025

And the world number 66 admitted after his round that he was furious following what he felt was a nasty break.

He said: “This very moment, a lot of anger, a bit of frustration. I couldn’t have hit two better shots on the last hole. I don’t hit 3-wood that far, and it’s blowing straight into the wind, and it decided to bounce all the way to the back woods.

“I thought in the air I was going to have about a 12-footer to win the tournament, and it ended up somewhere I was going to struggle to make par, let alone make a 4. Pretty upset. Played pretty well. Kind of just want to go home right now.“

After 89 attempts and counting, Young is still waiting for his first win on the PGA Tour. Something seemingly holds him back every single time.

Young was unlucky at the Canadian Open

Young can leave with his head held high. Sometimes, there isn’t much more you can do out there on the green.

Young hit two fantastic shots on the 18th hole at the Canadian Open, and as he said, he more than deserved a chance for an eagle.

The man from New York has all of the tools needed to win on the PGA Tour.

He just has to make some marginal gains with his putter and be more accepting of bad breaks out on the course.

Young will undoubtedly win a big tournament one day, and he was very unlucky that he didn’t break his duck at the Canadian Open.
