The striker was on target as the Canaries let slip a 3-1 lead to lose at St. James’ Park.

Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome has braved social media in the aftermath of his side’s defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday.
Goals from Graham Dorrans and Jerome put the Canaries 2-1 up at St. James’ Park, with Jacob Murphy adding a third for the visitors in the 69th minute.

At that stage, Alex Neil’s side were cruising back to the top of the Championship, having fallen behind Huddersfield Town on Tuesday.
But Newcastle stunned everyone with two stoppage-time goals, in the 95th and 96th minutes, courtesy of Yoan Gouffran and Dwight Gayle, completing the striker’s hat-trick.

Jerome was already off the pitch by then, replaced by Nelson Oliveira in the 86th minute, so perhaps felt less guilty than most.
He posted on Twitter:
The result saw Newcastle climb to within a point of their opponents, who remain a place above them in second.
But Rafa Benitez’s side will perhaps fancy their chances of breaking into the automatic spots this weekend, when they travel to bottom club Rotherham United, with Norwich away to play-off chasers Wolverhampton Wanderers.
