The talented Tottenham Hotspur defender has looked to the Manchester United legend during his development.

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Cameron Carter-Vickers is a player long mooted to be a star in the making at White Hart Lane. Having been at the North Londoners since he was very young, the US Under-23 international is now getting first team football under his belt at the tender age of 18, and has admitted to the club website that he used to pay close attention to a famous Premier League centre back when he was young.
Carter-Vickers followed up a number of appearances on the Spurs bench this season with 90 minutes against both Gillingham and Liverpool in the League Cup, and will now be hoping to add further appearances until the end of the season.

And he says he used to follow the performances of Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic as a boy.
“I thought he was quite a tough, resilient defender who would throw his body on the line,” Carter Vickers said of the former Old Trafford captain on tottenhamhotspur.com. “Which I try to do.”
If the teenager has any thing like the career the Serbian stalwart had at club level, Spurs will have a potentially world class player on their hands.

Vidic, who retired from football earlier this year, won a number of trophies during his eight and a half years at Manchester United, including five Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy. Alongside Rio Ferdinand, the Red Devils had one of the best defences in the division and the 35-year-old was regularly put forward as one of the top defenders in the world.
Tottenham’s young prospect is a long way from that, particularly after a difficult night at Anfield would have underlined that he has plenty of room to develop. But under manager Mauricio Pochettino, himself a former international defender, Carter-Vickers is arguably at the best possible club to fulfil his ambition.
