Cameron Carter-Vickers has been recalled from his loan at Sheffield United by Tottenham.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has posted a message on Instagram to Sheffield United fans after Spurs cancelled his season-long loan with the Yorkshire club this month.
The 20-year-old moved to Chris Wilder’s side in the summer for the entire 2017-18 campaign, but the powerful centre-back was recalled by Mauricio Pochettino earlier this month with Toby Alderweireld currently sidelined through injury.
One-time USA international Carter-Vickers impressed on loan with the Blades, becoming a mainstay of their back three with 17 Championship appearances and 18 in all competitions. He kept five clean sheets and scored against Bolton.
He posted on Instagram thanking Sheffield United for the chance to impress at Bramall Lane, while describing the half-season loan spell as “really enjoyable” with the Blades surpassing expectation in England’s second tier.
Now, the defender will be looking to break into Spurs’ first team, with Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Juan Foyth for company, while Alderweireld recovers on the sidelines.
It is likely to see him feature for Spurs’ second string, as he waits for a chance to build on his four first-team appearances with the north Londoners.
Spurs travel to Southampton on Sunday afternoon as they look to continue a fantastic run of form that saw Pochettino’s side run out 4-0 winners over Everton on Saturday evening.
