Football.London are reporting that Cameron Carter-Vickers will leave Tottenham Hotspur, which will be of interest to Newcastle United.

It has been reported that Carter-Vickers is expected to leave Spurs in the summer transfer window.

The Athletic reported last week that Newcastle are interested in signing the 23-year-old USA international central defender.

Graeme Jones, the Newcastle and England assistant coach, worked with Carter-Vickers during the defender’s loan spells at both Luton Town and Bournemouth, and rates him highly.

Jones is reported to have given the youngster ‘a glowing recommendation’.

Tottenham to Newcastle transfer?

Carter-Vickers has been on the books of Tottenham since 2009 and has a contract until June 2022.

The American has come through Spurs’ youth system, but the 23-year-old has failed to establish himself in the first team.

The USA international has had loan spells at Ipswich Town, Swansea City and Bournemouth among other clubs in recent years.

It is hard to see Carter-Vickers get a chance under new Spurs head coach Nuno, and a move to Newcastle would make sense.

The Magpies are interested in the defender, and at this stage of his career, he needs to find a club who want him and will play him regularly.
