The 20-year-old will struggle for first-team football at Spurs whilst the Belgian is around.

Some reports today are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are considering the sale of Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld this summer.
The Times report that Spurs and the player have reached a deadlock over his £150,000 wage demands, which will therefore see Tottenham acquiesce to allowing him an exit in the summer.
Of course Tottenham fans will hope that some sort of agreement can be made, as on his day, and when fit, the Belgian is one of the best players in his position in the world.

But one Tottenham Hotspur player who might be hoping his exit does go through is young American defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
His emergence last season essentially saw Kevin Wimmer hustled out of Spurs and he would have hoped to play a role in the first-team this campaign.
However, Tottenham signed both Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth, leaving Carter-Vickers to head out on loan to Sheffield United and now Ipswich Town.
The 20-year-old, who made his US men’s national team debut last year, is highly thought of at Spurs – but there is no doubt Foyth and Sanchez are ahead of him in the pecking order.

With Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, not to mention the versatile Eric Dier, also at the club, Tottenham’s USMNT teenager will realise his future may not be at the North London club.
But if Alderweireld leaves and Spurs decide not to bring anybody new in this summer, then Carter-Vickers will jump up the queue waiting for a centre-back opportunity.
Alderweireld’s exit could be the only way Carter-Vickers has any real future at the club.
