The American looks a real talent for the future at Spurs.
Gillingham’s Cody McDonald in action with Tottenham’s Cameron Carter-Vickers
Cameron Carter-Vickers has been discussing his debut for Tottenham Hotspur this week with the official Spurs website.
Mauricio Pochettino decided to play several young and fringe players in the game, with the 18-year-old one of the debutants in the game.
The young American has been impressive at Spurs and was excellent in pre-season. His form has seemingly seen him leapfrog Austrian international Kevin Wimmer in the pecking order at White Hart Lane.
Speaking about the debut, Carter-Vickers called it a dream come true.
He stated:
“It’s a dream come true. I’ve been working hard for all these years to get to this stage so to play and win 5-0, it’s fantastic.
“I got a little nervous when I found out I’d be starting but I think that helped me. It kept me on my toes and it was good for me. Now I’m going to keep my head down, keep working hard at the training ground and try to push on.”
Cameron Carter-Vickers USA U20 squad
There is no doubt that Carter-Vickers is one of the more impressive young defenders in the Premier League.
Despite his young age he is already physically capable of mixing it with players much older and more experienced than himself.
He is also very good with the ball at his feet and powerful in the air – he has all the attributes necessary to be a success at White Hart Lane.
Now he will hope to push on and get some more regular playing time at Spurs.
Could the club have just found their next Ledley King? Tottenham fans will certainly hope so.
