Tottenham Hotspur central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers wants to join Celtic, with Newcastle United also interested in him, according to The Daily Record.

What’s the story?

The Daily Record are reporting that Celtic are interested in signing Carter-Vickers from Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou wants to sign a new centre-back.

Tottenham will sell Carter-Vickers, and Celtic have made contact with the Premier League club.

Newcastle and Bournemouth want a permanent deal for the USA centre-back as well.

Spurs reportedly want £5 million as transfer fee for the youngster, who has played eight times for the USA and only four times for the Spurs first team.

Leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Celtic

Carter-Vickers has been at Tottenham since 2009, but it is clear that the American is not going to be part of the club for the long term.

If Celtic want him, then a move to the Scottish Premiership side would make sense for the defender.

Carter-Vickers did well during his loan spell at Bournemouth last season.

Then Bournemouth manager Jonathan Woodgate described the defender as “mister consistent” who “loves defending” and “keeping clean sheets” in The Daily Echo on May 21, 2021.
