Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter to Andros Townsend joining Everton.
The 30-year-old was a free agent this summer after leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season and Everton have snapped up his talents.
It all started at Spurs for Townsend when he came through their academy and now he’s hoping these final stages of his career end on a high.
Spurs fans have wished him the best of luck at Goodison Park and some have expressed their surprise at the move.
It just goes to show what happens when players are patient when their contracts are expiring rather than going into panic mode and pushing for any type of move.
If Rafa Benitez, who worked with Townsend at Newcastle, wasn’t appointed Everton boss then Townsend might not have joined.
But Benitez’s arrival has worked well for Townsend and now he will be looking to guide the club into Europe.
Townsend would have understood the pressures of working at a big club when he was at Spurs.
And he will need to be able to deal with those same pressures on Merseyside because the expectations will be high, whilst the man in the dugout wasn’t exactly a popular appointment.
