Cam Young is already using a golf ball that would be compliant under the new guidelines that are coming into play in 2028.
Young has been in sensational form on the PGA Tour so far in 2026, with two wins to his name already.
And one of the key reasons behind his fine form is the golf ball that he is currently using.
Cam Young made the switch to the Titleist Pro V1 Double Dot around nine months ago, just before he won for the first time on the PGA Tour at the Wyndham Championship.
Young dominated the field at the Cadillac Championship two weeks ago to secure the third PGA Tour win of his career.
He was in contention once again at the Truist Championship last week, but a final round 74 saw him tumble down the leaderboard.
Despite that poor finish, he is still one of the favorites to win the PGA Championship this week at Aronimink.
Cam Young’s opinion on the golf ball rollback
It emerged earlier this week at Aronimink that the ball Young has been using since August last year actually conforms to the new rules and regulations that will be coming into play in 2028.
The world number three was asked about that in his press conference on Wednesday.
“In terms of my opinion, it’s not going to be up to us, I don’t think,” Young said.
“I think that’s kind of irrelevant from my perspective. I haven’t done the research or kind of dived into it enough to really understand the goal and how they’re going to do it. In terms of that, I don’t think there’s much to say.
“When I found out was — I don’t know, it was a few weeks ago. I don’t remember exactly when it was, but it hasn’t been long.
“Yeah, I was kind of surprised in a sense, but at the same time, it didn’t change that I had played well with it, and I was comfortable. I feel like I’m playing a golf ball that’s best for how I’m playing the game at the moment. If that works out to mean that this goes into effect and I’m still playing the ball however many years from now makes it an easy change.
“The manufacturers are so good. They’re going to find their way to make a good golf ball no matter what the restrictions are. So it doesn’t really concern me that much frankly.“

The professional game is set to change in 2028, and the same will be the case for amateur events from 2030 onwards.
The golf ball rollback rule will be coming into play at the start of the 2028 season, and the move is surrounded by controversy.
Many PGA Tour players are pushing back against the incoming rule change according to recent claims.
However, it seems as though Cam Young will be ahead of the curve when the golf ball rollback actually comes into play.
The 29-year-old New Yorker has been using a rollback compliant ball for nine months now and he has won three times during that period, while averaging well over 300 yards off the tee.
Perhaps the golf ball rollback won’t have the impact that many think it will.
