Cam Young posted a superb round of 63 on Saturday at Quail Hollow to vault himself back into contention at the Truist Championship.

Young got off to a slow, albeit steady, start at the Truist Championship this week, shooting rounds of 68 at 70.

However, he now has a great chance to win his third PGA Tour tournament in 2026, as he heads into the final round two shots adrift of the leader, Alex Fitzpatrick.

Cam Young is now the third-ranked player in the world, and his performance on Saturday at the Truist Championship this week has underlined his immense quality.

Young blew away the field at the Cadillac Championship last week, despite receiving a one-stroke penalty early on during his final round at Trump National Doral.

However, he will be the hunter on Sunday at Quail Hollow, rather than the hunted.

Cam Young labels one part of his game as ‘inexcusable’ at the Truist

In order for Young to win the Truist, he will have to tidy up one specific part of his game, according to the man himself.

The 29-year-old spoke to reporters after his third round 63 and responded when asked if he has been pleased with

No. My speed has been awful, Young admitted.

Honestly on two of the ones I made on 15 and 16 I hit them both way too hard.

So kind of they’re really tricky and they can certainly get away from you without hitting a terrible putt. I feel like I’ve had some inexcusable three and a half footers coming back after having nine ten, twelve feet for birdie.

Yeah, it was better today kind of once I think I got past trying to make them as much. Yeah, I’m sure it’ll be quick tomorrow, so just trying to keep getting closer and closer, and hope I get a feel for them.

Cam Young’s stats through three rounds at the Truist Championship

Young’s ball-striking has been solid at Quail Hollow this week.

He ranks 23rd in strokes gained off the tee and 29th in strokes gained approach.

However, he has excelled with his chipping and pitching and is ranked 1st in strokes gained around the greens, having gained 5.182 shots on the field.

Young is ranked 13th in strokes gained putting and 2nd in strokes gained total.

The three-time PGA Tour winner has gained just over 10 strokes on the field this week in Charlotte.

And despite the fact that he’s trailing Alex Fitzpatrick heading into the final round of the Truist Championship, it would be no surprise at all to see him pick up another win on Sunday.
