As confirmed by the Scotland national team’s official Twitter account, Calvin Ramsay has been selected in the senior squad ahead of their upcoming friendly against Turkey.

Initially, the 19-year-old was called up for the Scottish U-21 roster, alongside fellow Liverpool youngster Ben Doak.

However, it seems like Steve Clarke is ready to test the youngster amongst the established stars, as this is the first time he has been selected in and amongst the senior setup.

It was only in the Reds’ recent 2-0 win against Napoli where the youngster made his debut for the side.

While a string of injuries have halted the former Aberdeen right-back’s start to life at the club, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that he is ‘completely back’ to full fitness recently, as reported by HITC.

The German boss also described the summer signing as an ‘outstanding talent’, which especially bodes well for Scotland.

As the teenager is expected to start in the Merseyside-based side’s upcoming Carabao Cup clash against Derby Country, a promising outing could convince Steve Clarke to play him from the off against Turkey.

Playing on the opposite flank of fellow Liverpool star and Scottish skipper, Andy Robertson, a familiar face as well as the ideal mentor is likely to guide him through a landmark moment in his life.

While Scotland failed to make the cut for the Qatar World Cup, Ramsay could ensure that he becomes his nation’s starting right-back ahead of Euro 2024.

As he is expected to be handed minutes against Turkey, there is no better chance for the prodigious defender to make his mark than next week in national colours.
