Celtic have decided to release Calvin Miller this summer – and he has opened up on his exit from Parkhead.
The Bhoys have made tough decisions over the last week, with first-teamers Jozo Simunovic and Jonny Hayes leaving the club.
Their contracts come to an end this summer, meaning they’re now free agents. Another player being let go is Calvin Miller, three-and-a-half years since his debut.
Miller, 22, came up through the Celtic ranks, joining them aged 12. He made his way up to first team level, but maybe not how he had imagined it.
The Scot was a winger in his early days, but Brendan Rodgers deployed him as a left back – and even compared him to Ryan Bertrand in terms of pushing back to left back.
Miller only made five appearances for Celtic’s first team, and spent time out on loan last season at Dundee and Ayr United.
Miller hasn’t played at all under Neil Lennon, and instead saw two left backs – Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli – signed last summer.
Now, Miller has told The Scottish Sun that he is happy to have at least played some part in Celtic’s run of nine titles in a row, but wonders whether his Celtic career could have been different if Rodgers had stayed.

Rodgers left for Leicester City in 2019, and Miller failed to play again for the club. Miller feels they just suited each other well, and is now looking to the future as he attempts to recover from injury.
“To even play a small part in nine in a row, I should be more than happy with that,” said Miller. “If Brendan had still been there then who knows what might have happened. But people move on. He suited my style and I suited his style. I was happy with what I did and I don’t have any regrets.”
“Just now I’m getting my own physio and getting my knee perfect for wherever I go. If I get my knee right, then there’s no doubt I’ll get somewhere,” he added.
