Calvin Miller made his senior debut for Celtic on Tuesday, after breaking through the Glasgow club’s youth academy.
Calvin Miller has told the Daily Record that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers encouraged him to play his natural game, before he made his senior debut against Partick earlier this week.
Miller was given his maiden senior start on Tuesday evening, as Celtic picked up a 1-0 win over Partick.
The Bhoys scored their goal through Scott Sinclair, but they were made to work by their struggling visitors.
Partick had opportunities in the match, but Miller stood up to the challenge – and he helped Rodgers’ men claim the three points.
The full-back is now hoping that he can remain in Celtic’s starting line-up, as he looks to become an established part of Rodgers’ plans.
“Hopefully I can keep doing well and the gaffer includes me in the squads again,” he said. “He just told me to be myself, be direct and get crosses in.”
Miller actually is more familiar with playing as a winger, but Rodgers has seen enough in the winger to suggest he could make a dangerous attacking full-back for Celtic.
Miller’s next action for the Bhoys could come when they take on Hamilton at New Douglas Park on Christmas Eve.
