It has been a miserable start to the season for Everton, who are languishing in 15th place in the Premier League, but there is a glimmer of hope for the club’s supporters in the form of a strike partnership between Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Oumar Niasse.

Even though Everton have been woeful this campaign, Calvert-Lewin has continued to catch the eye with his hardworking displays up front and has demonstrated his impressive link-up play.

Niasse, meanwhile, has scored four goals in six Premier League games since being brought in from the cold by Ronald Koeman.

Both Calvert-Lewin and Niasse were on the scoresheet in Everton’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Watford prior to the international break, and possess prior experience of playing together from when they featured for the Toffees’ U23 side last season.

Everton are still yet to appoint a permanent manager following the dismissal of Koeman but, whoever takes charge, the partnership between Calvert-Lewin and Niasse certainly seems the best possible option at present for a team that have mustered just ten goals in the Premier League so far this season.

Sandro Ramirez has struggled to adapt following his switch from Malaga, while Wayne Rooney has also endured frustrating commencement to the campaign.

The pairing of Calvert-Lewin and Niasse combines pace and power and is certainly worth considering when Everton face Crystal Palace away on Saturday.
