Gary Lineker was absolutely furious with Jürgen Klopp before Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle, after the German discussed the Super League.
Klopp spoke to BT Sport’s Des Kelly at Anfield, where he asked people to ‘calm down’ following the uproar over the elitist project.
That was entirely the wrong message to send out at this time, and Lineker rightly hit out at the Reds boss with a passionate tweet.

From our point of view, Klopp’s comments have surprised us.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager often comes across as a man of the people.
However, as Lineker mentions, he hasn’t really read the room on this occasion.
If anything, people should be doing the exact opposite of what Klopp said.
The Super League drama has given supporters momentum to keep pushing back against greedy, exploiting owners who don’t understand football.
The worst thing to do now would be to stop rising against it.
Admittedly, Klopp has been left in a difficult position.
The £308,000-a-week man evidently doesn’t want to create more trouble for his bosses in the boardroom – that can be seen in the slight hesitation at times during his interview.
However, he can still avoid criticising Fenway Sports Group, while expressing discontent at the Super League and supporting the fans’ actions.
