Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Callum Wilson has been talking about Chris Wood after he arrived at St James’ Park.

The New Zealander has gotten off to a good start on Tyneside. He’s helped the Magpies to three wins on the spin and it looks as though United may well now stay up.

However, unfortunately for Wood, he’s still waiting on his first Newcastle goal, and Wilson believes that the striker will be kicking himself due to his lack of goals thus far.

What’s been said?

Wilson spoke about Wood.

“He’s probably kicking himself because he hasn’t scored yet, but one will fall for him and then he’ll hit the ground running. I think for the way the team has functioned and the way the team has been playing, our formation over the last few weeks has been working, and that’s been with one striker. Credit to him, he’s done a great job and when I get back it won’t be easy for me to just walk back in,” Wilson said.

Goals will come

The goals will surely come for Wood at some point, but the last thing he should be doing is getting stressed out about this.

Wood has been playing well thus far, and more importantly, the team have been winning.

The striker certainly shouldn’t change his game in pursuit of more goals, and while he may be kicking himself, as Wilson says, something will drop for him eventually.
