Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has told The Glasgow Evening Times that he and his teammates will head into the match against Rangers high on confidence.

The Bhoys will take on Old Firm rivals Rangers at Hampden Park in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup on April 23.

The two sides faced each other earlier this month. Celtic and Rangers played out a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic midfielder McGregor, who is 23 years of age, has stated that he and his teammates will head into the game against the Gers high on confidence.

“You can never take too much from these games,” McGregor told The Glasgow Evening Times. “It will be about who turns up on the day and who wants it more.

“We’ll be very focused going in to the game and trying to get the right result. People say it’s a wake up call but there’s not too much truth in that.

“We drew the game and it was a bit subdued at the end but we are still unbeaten and have a great record. The confidence is still sky high and we need to take that in to every game.”

Rangers’ performance against Celtic at Celtic Park earlier this month was quite good and encouraging.

While the Hoops will head into next month’s clash as favourites, the Ibrox outfit will fancy their chances.

With Pedro Caixinha as their new manager, Rangers will be looking to end the season strongly and win as many matches as possible in the coming weeks.
