The Southampton striker has previously caught the eye of Crystal Palace’s manager.

Southampton striker Charlie Austin was one of a whole host of players called up by Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson during his time in charge of England. However, the 28-year-old never did a chance to pull on the famous Three Lions.
Then a Queens Park Rangers player, Austin has since moved on to Southampton, where he has taken his tally of Premier League goals to 26 in 65 appearances.
It is certainly impressive record, and one you would expect to alert a club like Palace, who are desperately short of striking options in their battle to maintain their top flight status – especially given his previous with Hodgson.

Having failed to start a single league game this season, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Austin could find himself available come the January transfer window.
However, with Southampton only four points above the relegation places themselves, they may be reluctant to do business with a potential rival such as Crystal Palace.
