Does Jay-Roy Grot need to develop outside of Leeds United’s senior squad?

Leeds United fans haven’t seen much of Jay-Rot Grot after joining the Yorkshire club for £750,000 from Dutch outfit NEC in the summer.
And they could and should be prepared to see even less of him when another summer addition returns from injury.
The 19-year-old striker was an unused substitute in Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday and had brief cameos off the bench against Cardiff and Ipswich.

But the towering Dutch hitman is likely to see his first-team chances limited severely when Caleb Ekuban returns from injury.
The Italian-born forward, 23, has been out since the start of September with a broken foot but is due back before October is out.

Ekuban, who scored 17 goals in 34 games for Partizani Tirana on loan from Chievo Verona last season, is ahead of Grot in the pecking order and will expect to rival Pierre Michel-Lasogga and Kemar Roofe for the number nine shirt when he returns.
It is far too early for Grot – yet to score for United – to seriously start up front for Leeds in Championship outings and it seems probable that he will spend the rest of the season with the Under-23 side when Ekuban comes back.
