Caleb Ekuban has joined Leeds United from Italian club Chievo in the summer transfer window.

New Leeds United signing Caleb Ekuban has told BBC Radio Leeds that he is confident that he will succeed in the Championship.

Championship club Leeds have signed Ekuban from Italian outfit Chievo on a four-year contract, as announced on the Whites’ official website.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites had to pay the Serie A side a transfer fee of £500,000 in order to secure the services of the 23-year-old Ghanaian striker.

Ekuban has been on the books of Chievo since 2010, but the youngster failed to make a single league appearance for the Flying Donkeys.

During his tenure at the Italian side, the striker spent time on loan at Sudtirol, Lumezzane, Renate and Partizani Tirana.

The Championship is a very tough and competitive domestic league, but Ekuban is confident that he will be a success in the second tier of English football.

“Let’s say that I am not afraid because I know that the Championship is very strong, but I am also strong too,” Ekuban told BBC Radio Leeds when asked if he would be able to cope in the Championship. “If I keep training and get the rhythm, I think that I will not suffer physically.”

Leeds narrowly failed to finish in the tops six of the Championship last season and will be aiming to clinch a playoff spot during the 2017-18 campaign.
