Caleb Ekuban scored just one Championship goal for Leeds United but has impressed in Turkey with Trabzonspor.
Trabzonspor could make a big profit on Caleb Ekuban when they sign the striker from Leeds United this summer, as reported by Sabah.
Ekuban is currently on loan in the Turkish top flight after failing to impress at Elland Road, notching just a single Championship strike during his one and only season in West Yorkshire.
The Ghanaian has found goals easier to come by at Trabzonspor, however, finding the target seven times in all competitions to earn himself fans’ favourite status at the Turkish club. As a result, they are expected to seize their chance to sign Ekuban permanently for a fee of around £1 million.
And, according to Sabah, Trabzonspor believe that the former Chievo Verona striker is worth far more than £1 million in today’s market.
The report claims that they will demand £9 million from any club who wants to sign Ekuban in the summer, meaning they could earn a significant profit on a player who was scoring goals at a remarkable rate in Albania two years ago.
Leeds appear to have backed themselves into a corner by allowing Trabzonspor an option to buy Ekuban at the end of this season. With the benefit of hindsight, it might have been a better idea to bring Ekuban back to Elland Road and try and sell him on themselves rather than giving Trabzonspor control over the striker’s destiny.
