Leeds stopped the rot with a superb 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Sundat afternoon.
Leeds United striker Caleb Ekuban has spoke of his delight to return to first-team action on Instagram after coming on as a substitute against Middlesbrough on Sunday afternoon.
The Whites earned a superb 2-1 victory at Elland Road thanks to goals from Pablo Hernandez and Ezgjan Alioski either side of half-time, to give Thomas Christiansen’s side a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Italian striker Ekuban, who was signed from Serie A side Chievo in the summer, came off the bench to make just his third appearance in the white of Leeds after breaking his foot in August during the 2-0 win over Sunderland.
The 23-year-old looked sharp, boasting pace and agility as well as power when facing Boro’s centre-backs. He posted his joy at returning to the side after undergoing surgery on his foot, stating he was “happy to be back”.
His message read: “What a nice day. Fans were amazing, team effort was incredible and I’m very happy to have the opportunity to help the team. Together we can do anything. Happy to be back Elland Road.”
However, an incident involving Luke Ayling and Daniel Ayala saw Boro awarded a penalty, which was dispatched by former Nottingham Forest goal machine Britt Assombalonga to set up a nervy 15 minutes.
But Leeds held on against former manager Garry Monk and his Middlesbrough side, pushing them into seventh place in the Championship table after seven defeats in their previous eight games prior to Sunday’s clash.
Leeds face Wolves at Molineux on Tuesday night in what is likely to be a hugely difficult test against the league leaders.
