Pierre Michel Lasogga has missed Leeds United last three matches.
Lasogga has missed Leeds’ last three matches with illness and injury, and the German forward has not been missed too badly.
Both Kemar Roofe and Ekuban have been impressive in their stints starting up-front.
And Ekuban has revealed that Christiansen wants a striker who can press from the front.
“I think I helped the team as the coach wanted,” the summer signing said. “I tried to put the pressure on the defenders, not let them think or allow them to play the way they wanted to.
“These last few weeks he’s been trying to get the striker to help our defensive line. Try and press up front and let our defenders have a rest. We are trying to help them in that way.”
Ekuban’s words mean that himself and Roofe look far better fits than Lasogga.
While Lesogga may be the best finisher of the trio, he is also the least mobile, and pressing defenders does not come naturally to him.
Ekuban, meanwhile, is a bundle of energy and he showed his worth at Oakwell at the weekend.
Leeds won 2-0 against Barnsley in their most recent outing, with Ekuban impressing throughout.
And when Lasogga does return to full fitness, the target-man may be watching from the sidelines for far longer than he originally expected.
