Caleb Ekuban is on the comeback trail for Leeds United.
Thomas Christiansen confirmed to LUTV on Thursday that Caleb Ekuban is close to a return to first-team action for Leeds United.
The 23-year-old striker hasn’t kicked a ball for Leeds since August after breaking a bone in his foot against Sunderland.
But news of his imminent return can only be a huge bit of good news for the Whites.
The former Chievo Verona hitman, who bagged 17 goals on loan at Partizani Tirana last season, had only managed two games for United prior to his injury.
He scored in the 4-1 League Cup win over Port Vale 10 days before his injury and Leeds fans should be excited to see what he can really do.
Christiansen has had to make do with Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga as his striking options but Ekuban, with his electric pace and movement, can stretch opposition defences in ways which Roofe and Lasogga cannot.
He offers something a bit different and that is precisely what Leeds have needed at times – particularly over the past few weeks.
Ekuban is also the type of player who United’s flair players – Samu Saiz, Egzjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez – might love playing behind and supporters should be excited to see what the club’s £500,000 bought.
