Ibrox outfit Glasgow Rangers reportedly want to appoint Pedro Caixinha as their new manager.
Former Hibernian and Rotherham United manager Alan Stubbs has told The Scotsman that appointing Pedro Caixinha as the manager would be a calculated gamble for Rangers.
According to The Scotsman, Rangers are interested in appointed Caixinha as the first-team manager to succeed Mark Warburton.
Warburton and the Gers parted company last month following a run of poor results in the Scottish Premiership.
Stubbs knows Caixinha well, having taken his Uefa Pro Licence course alongside the Portuguese manager.
The former Celtic and Everton defender has suggested that the 46-year-old, who is in charge of Al-Gharafa at the moment, would be a good managerial appointment for Rangers.
“There is never a 100 per cent guarantee of success when you choose a manager,” Stubbs told The Scotsman. “Every appointment is a gamble to some degree.
“But Rangers have taken their time over this one and it would be a calculated gamble if they go for Pedro. I think he could be very good for Rangers.”
Rangers, who won automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship at the end of last season, are third in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 46 points from 27 matches.
The Gers are six points behind second-placed Aberdeen, and as many as 33 points behind Old Firm rivals and leaders Celtic.
The Glasgow giants will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Hamilton Academical at Ibrox in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
