Daniel Candeias has taken to Twitter to congratulate former club Rangers on their achievement this past weekend.

Celtic’s 0-0 draw at Dundee United ensured that the Gers were crowned Scottish Premiership champions for the first time in a decade – and the 55th time overall.

It was clear for most of the campaignthat Rangers were going to stop their Old Firm rivals’ 10-in-a-row bid because frankly, Steven Gerrard’s side have been leagues apart from the Hoops this season.

But knowing the title was heading back to Ibrox for so long did not stop the light Blues fans from celebrating outside their stadium in their thousands over the weekend.

It seems a long time ago now that former Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha was overseeing shock Europa League defeats by Progres.

And one of the Portuguese coach’s signings, Candeias, has praised the club on social media:

The 33-year-old winger left the Glasgow club 18 months ago after Gerrard rendered him surplus to requirements, selling him to Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi.
