Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha claims that the club are close to making new signings.

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has told BBC Sport that the club are close to signing a new midfielder – and may have another deal in the pipeline too.
The Gers beat Hearts 2-1 on Saturday afternoon thanks to goals from Joe Garner and Barrie McKay, meaning Caixinha has won five of his eight games in charge of the club.
Caixinha, brought in to replace Mark Warburton in March, has been assessing his squad over the last two months, and new signings will be needed – particularly after the 5-1 thumping at the hands of Celtic last month.
The Daily Record reported earlier this month that Caixinha wants 12 new signings this summer, and he appears to be closing in on the first of those.

Whilst Rangers are keen on defenders Bruno Alves and Rashid Sumaila (Daily Mail), reports from the Daily Record claimed that the Gers were pursuing a move for Hearts midfielder Alexandros Tziolis, who worked with Caixinha at Panathinaikos.
Caixinha has shot that rumour down, but did reveal to BBC Sport that Rangers are poised to complete one deal, and possibly another in the midfield area in the near future, kickstarting the club’s summer transfer plans.
“We are about to get one deal, or more than one deal, done in those positions, so we know what we want,” said Caixinha. “We know exactly what we are looking for and things are going in the direction we want,” he added.
Celtic’s Scott Brown (L) in action with Aberdeen’s Ryan Jack
With Jon Toral set to return to Arsenal after Emerson Hyndman went back to parent club Bournemouth, Rangers are certainly in need of midfield reinforcements – especially considering the injury woes of Niko Kranjcar and Jordan Rossiter.
The Scottish Sun recently claimed that Rangers want to land Aberdeen skipper Ryan Jack on a pre-contract agreement, and that could be a smart move on a free transfer, though it’s unclear just who Caixinha will move for.
