Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing the Freiburg ace.

Arsenal target Caglar Soyuncu’s agent Mustafa Dogru spoke exclusively to Turkish media outlet Turkish football, and claimed that his client is close to joining the Gunners, although a fee is still yet to be agreed.

Unai Emery is believed to be a big fan of the 22-year-old Turk, with the north London outfit prepared to pay somewhere in the region of £30 million in order to secure his services this summer, according to the Sun.

Arsenal’s fragile defence has been the root of most of their problems over this past decade, and Emery has obviously identified his back-line as an area that needs drastic improvement.

Soyuncu would be a superb addition to the Gunners’ squad, but Arsenal fans would have been concerned to see reports suggesting that Liverpool have entered the race to sign the Turkey international (Mirror).

The 22-year-old’s agent spoke to Turkish Football, however, and put Arsenal fans at ease, claiming that his client’s switch to the Emirates is edging ever closer:

“Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund. He first scouted him back in Germany. Sven is interested in Caglar, there are concrete talks, all that remains is for a fee to be agreed. We will see what happens next.”

With football transfers being so complicated nowadays, there will still be plenty of work left for the Gunners if they are to bring Soyuncu to the Emirates this summer, but if they do manage to get a deal for the Turk over the line, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the north London outfit.
