Cafu and Roberto Carlos were asked to rank three players in order – Liverpool flyer, Mohamed Salah, Tottenham superstar, Heung-Min Son, and Manchester City’s new boy, Erling Haaland.

The Brazil legends didn’t hesitate to answer by putting Liverpool’s Egyptian king top of the list, the man who shared the 2021/22 Premier League Golden Boot with Salah second in Son and then Haaland in third place, as they told UMM.

“Mohamed Salah, Son and then Haaland three,” said Cafu.

“The first is Mohamed Salah, Son is second, then after, Haaland,” added Roberto Carlos.

Come next season, those three players will be expected to be fighting for that all-important Golden Boot, with big expectations on Haaland’s shoulders.

Both Salah and Son are proven performers, everyone knows they can cut it with the big boys in what is dubbed as the best league in the world.

Many are expecting Haaland to do the business, but given that Germany’s top-tier isn’t exactly seen in a great light, there are some wondering just how the 21-year-old will get on.

In truth, he should be just fine because, when it comes to Champions League football, he has ripped that tournament to shreds and showcased his worth at a very high level.

From his 20 Champions League matches, he has an impressive 23 goals for RB Salzburg and most recently, Borussia Dortmund, either way, it’s impressive because they aren’t the top dog teams when they enter that tournament.

On paper, Salah is the guy, the one with the records, the golden boots and the trophies, but the other two will argue they haven’t been playing for teams that are expected to win the big trophies.

The same could be said for Son next season because he is still in Tottenham colours, but it’s going to be a right ding-dong battle between Salah and Haaland next term.

Manchester City have won four out of the last five Premier League titles and they are hoping to dominate even further by making it three in a row – the last team to do that was a certain Manchester United.

But who is most likely to stop them? None other than Liverpool led by Jurgen Klopp and Salah.
