Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are widely considered two of the greatest golfers ever, with a combined 33 major titles between them.

Nicklaus leads the way with 18 of those championships, holding the record for most major wins, while Woods follows closely behind with 15.

Woods has referred to Nicklaus as the best golfer of all time, a debate that has persisted for years.

And that discussion is not likely to go away anytime soon, especially if Woods manages to overcome his injury and return to competition.

However, even if he eventually transitions to the PGA Tour Champions, Woods’ impact on golf and his accomplishments during his peak will always be remembered.

Woods put together one of the most memorable years in golf history back in 2000, picking up three major titles along the way.

PGA Tour caddie Kip Henley took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment on footage from that period, highlighting just how good the California native looked at the peak of his game.

Henley, who has worked with Vijay Singh and Stewart Cink, wrote: “Tiger 2000 can’t be touched in the history of the game swinging a more powerful and accurate swing.”

He also added: “No player in the history of the game was a better wedge and driver of the ball. Nicklaus wasn’t even close. They are two separate swings and Tiger figured out how to do both.”

That swing remains one of golf’s most recognisable and effective, shaping what many consider to be the sport’s greatest season.

In 2000, Woods secured victories in the US Open, The Open Championship, and the PGA Championship, with his US Open win being particularly dominant, achieved by a margin of 15 shots.

He secured nine victories during the season, a total Singh matched four years afterward.

These victories have elevated Woods to a tie with Sam Snead for the top spot on the all-time PGA Tour list, both having 82 wins, placing Nicklaus third with 73.
