West Ham United beat Crystal Palace 1-0 on Saturday.

Pundit Rodney Marsh has taken to Twitter to throw his weight behind Winston Reid as West Ham United’s man of the match against Crystal Palace.
The Hammers may have gone into Saturday’s London derby at Selhurst Park having won just one of their first seven Premier League games, losing five of them as they boasted the unwanted record of being the worst defence in the league, but they turned in a great display against Palace.

Slaven Bilic tested out his 3-4-2-1 system for West Ham, and it worked a treat with Manuel Lanzini grabbing a first half goal, which proved to be the winner.
West Ham had to dig in though; Christian Benteke missed a penalty for Palace, Aaron Cresswell was sent off for two quick bookings in the second half, and Adrian was forced into a great save late in the day to seal all three points.

A number of Hammers stars impressed, but one player has been singled out for praise by pundit Rodney Marsh – defender Winston Reid.
The centre back, much like many of West Ham’s defenders, has endured a mixed start to the season, but was vital against Palace as he racked up an astonishing 15 clearances to keep Alan Pardew’s men at bay.

Reid had been jet-setting on international duty with New Zealand, but was thrown in against Palace, with Bilic telling the club’s official website that Reid was ‘magnificent’ despite some pre-match concerns about his travel over the international break.
After the game, West Ham’s official Twitter account asked fans to name their man of the match, and Marsh responded by saying anybody who didn’t vote for Reid knows nothing about football.
