Gary Neville thinks that Liverpool stopper Alisson is now far superior to Manchester City’s Ederson, as per his comments on Monday Night Football, which was broadcast by Sky Sports.

Ederson and Alisson have generally been considered the two best goalkeepers in the Premier League over recent years.

But Neville thinks that the Liverpool man has now gone to another level and has performed far better than his £35 million City counterpart (BBC Sport).

“Best by a mile. Ederson was outstanding for a couple of seasons, but his standard has dropped the last couple of years,” Neville said.

“When you’re an outstanding goalkeeper the difference it makes it unbelievable. When you’re a good goalkeeper to a great one, the difference in makes in terms of points is unquantifiable.

“But Alisson does that week in week out. Even at Crystal Palace at the weekend. He just makes save after save, he makes good decision after good decision and he makes the fewest errors. He’s an amazing goalkeeper.”

Alisson was named in Neville and Jamie Carragher’s Premier League team of 2020 and there could surely be few arguments about his inclusion.

The Liverpool stopper is so important to Jurgen Klopp’s side and he has proven his worth this season again.

Liverpool have found things more difficult when Alisson has been sidelined, although Caoimhin Kelleher’s emergence this season has been a boost, with Adrian not always inspiring confidence.

But Alisson is fit and back in the team now, and Liverpool will be hoping to keep him fresh for the remainder of the campaign.
