Leeds United central defender Liam Cooper has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the club handing Gaetano Berardi a new contract.
As announced on Leeds’s official website this evening, Berardi has signed a new deal with the Premier League outfit.
The 32-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a one-year contract which will see him stay at Elland Road until the end of the season.
However, the defender is not available to play at the moment, as he is still undergoing rehabilitation following an operation and will continue his recovery at the club.
Leeds defender and captain Cooper has given his take on the club’s decision to hand Berardi a new deal.
Wonderful gesture from Leeds United
It is a great gesture from Leeds to hand Berardi a new contract. The Whites did not have to, and it shows how much they respect and value their players.
The 32-year-old has been at Leeds since 2014 and has been a very important player for the team, and one suspects that the fans will respect the club’s chiefs even more now.
