Liverpool fans were impressed with former trainee and Wolves star Conor Coady’s performance at centre-back.

Wolves star Conor Coady put in one of the best performances of his career as he helped the Championship side hold Premier League leader Manchester City level over 120 minutes.
Coady would go on to miss a penalty in the shootout, but it did not detract from a superb performance in which Wolves’ second string accomplished what most Premier League teams have not been able to do this season, shut out Pep Guardiola’s side.

Coady played a big part in this, starting the game at centre-back, and defying pre-match expectations that he would get ripped apart by Sergio Aguero.
24-year-old Coady begun his career as a midfielder, but he has been used solely in defence this season by manager Nuno Santo, to excellent effect.
So much so that his performance last night had fans of his former club Liverpool looking on wistfully.

Liverpool are in the midst of a defensive crisis, with their lack of quality centre-backs derailing their ambitions to win silverware.
They sit in ninth place but have conceded three more goals than Bournemouth, who sit in the relegation zone.
Could Coady do a job at Anfield, where he was once a trainee? It may be too much of a jump for him, but such is the lack of faith in Dejan Lovren on Merseyside, that fans may willingly take the gamble.
Here is a look at some of the reaction from Reds fans to Coady’s clean sheet against a Manchester City side which stuck five past Liverpool last month.
