Sheffield United fans are eager for Sander Berge to stay, despite links with Liverpool recently.

EuroSport claim that Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen to sign the central midfielder in the summer, as they look at potential Georginio Wijnaldum replacements.

The Reds have had some success with signing relegated players before, with Andy Robertson a major hit at Anfield.

And it seems that Liverpool could try and repeat the trick with Berge.

The Norwegian actually hasn’t always been a mainstay in the Blades’ starting line-up this term.

But his quality and potential is well thought of at Bramall Lane and seemingly on Merseyside.

And if Berge is to go, Sheffield United fans are hoping that Liverpool pay big, or put in a buy-back clause, in any deal.

Sheffield United may well be eager to keep Berge, but they are not in a position of strength at this stage.

The Blades look certain to be going down, and if Liverpool do step up their interest, it is difficult to see how they could stop the player from leaving.
