Moussa Sissoko has shared that he ‘doesn’t know’ if he is a club legend at Tottenham, as he posted on his Instagram story.
The Watford midfielder was told by one of his followers ‘You are a legend at Spurs’.
He responded by saying: “I don’t know if I am but thank you.”
Sissoko left Spurs this summer, five years after joining the club from then-relegated Newcastle United.
It was a pretty mixed time in North London for Sissoko, including early struggles, which saw him fail to cement his place in a team that was thriving, week in and week out under Mauricio Pochettino in the Premier League.
During Tottenham’s high moments under Pochettino, the Frenchman struggled for form.
But, ironically enough, when Spurs started going backwards under Pochettino, around 18 or so months before he was sacked, Sissoko’s form started to pick up.
At one point, he was an important figure for the team in the middle of the park and one of the first names on the teammsheet.
But under Jose Mourinho, his game time reduced and the writing was on the wall for him to leave the club.
He made the short trip and joined newly-promoted Watford on a free transfer at the start of this season, where he linked up with a certain Danny Rose.
If Sissoko had won a trophy at the club, and they had numerous chances to do so, including during the Champions League final, then he would have been a legend.
But it’s quite clear that he’s not, especially if you compare him to individuals like Ricky Villa and Glenn Hoddle.
