Michael Owen has worryingly claimed that Mo Salah’s injury could worsen overnight and it would be a ‘massive blow’ ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Arsenal, as he told Premier League Productions (12/03/22 at 2:45 pm).
The former Liverpool striker noted that Arsenal is one of the big games for Jurgen Klopp’s men and they will need Salah out on that pitch.
Just before Salah scored a penalty for Liverpool during their 2-0 win against Brighton, he appeared to hurt his foot after strong contact with an opposition player.
The Egyptian then proceeded to strike a pretty fierce penalty to put Liverpool 2-0 up, before walking off, albeit with a smile on his face and throwing his shirt to a Brighton fan.
After the game, Owen spoke about Salah’s injury, with everyone in the dark, at this moment in time, and what it could mean ahead of the Arsenal clash.
“After the penalty, he is telling Jordan Henderson that he has got a problem here,” said Owen. “So he has actually smacked that ball with that foot (he has injured) into the back of the net.
“So, it can’t be too bad and he has walked off. But enough for him to go off because someone like Salah doesn’t go off, especially when there are goals available.
“It would be a massive blow if he was missing any of the games. Of course, Arsenal next, with the way Arsenal are playing that’s going to be a tough one and they will want him fit for that
“But Arsenal away, it’s one of the biggies. This is one of the occasions where Liverpool could drop points, so they would want him fit for that one. It will be critical how he is feeling in the morning because some of these injuries get way worse overnight, then they get better. You could see him mouth at Jurgen Klopp. Hopefully, it’s not too bad, he has walked off.”

Arsenal are in action against Leicester City on Sunday, so their focus won’t yet turn to Liverpool.
But, as soon as that game is finished, all eyes will be on that Wednesday showdown and whether Salah will be available.
In truth, given the level of attackers Klopp has to choose from, he can still bring in the Premier League’s second-highest goalscorer, Diogo Jota, if Salah is out of that game.
Whilst that’s a pretty outstanding option to have, at the end of the day, Salah being absent from the teammsheet is a massive blow for the Reds, regardless of who replaces him.
