Busy and successful: Pundit Tony Dorigo reacts on Twitter to Leeds United’s summer transfers

Leeds United capped off their summer spending with deadline day deals for Pawel Cibicki and Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

Leeds United ended their summer transfer activity on Thursday, with Pawel Cibicki and Pierre-Michel Lasogga both arriving – and pundit Tony Dorigo has taken to Twitter to offer his verdict.

The Whites have made a strong start to the new season, with new manager Thomas Christiansen so far remaining unbeaten, with three wins and two draws from five league games.

Much of that has been down to a strong transfer window, which started with permanent deals for loan duo Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko after impressing at Elland Road last season.

Ahead of deadline day, Leeds had snapped up Felix Wiedwald, Andy Lonergan, Vurnon Anita, Matthew Pennington, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Mateusz Klich, Madger Gomes, Ezgjan Alioski, Samu Saiz, Caleb Ekuban and Jay-Roy Grot, with new sporting director Victor Orta placing a huge focus on the European market.

Leeds also secured the signature of Ouasim Bouy before loaning him out to Cultural Leonesa in Spain, and their start to the season is even more impressive given that they have seen the likes of Robert Green, Charlie Taylor, Liam Bridcutt and, most importantly, Chris Wood, leave the club over the summer after being important parts of the Leeds side last season.

With Wood leaving for Burnley last month, Leeds had to bring in strikers to replace the New Zealand international after his 30-goal campaign last season, and they moved to sign two forwards on deadline day last week.

Malmo striker Pawel Cibicki arrived first, penning a four-year deal with the club, before Hamburg’s Pierre-Michel Lasogga signed a season-long loan deal with the Whites, meaning Christiansen has three new strikers at his disposal in Grot, Cibicki and Lasogga.

Former Leeds ace and current pundit Tony Dorigo took to Twitter to comment on the deals, admitting it has been a busy and successful summer for the Whites, noting that Leeds chose to sign three forwards to replace Wood rather than one, going for a goals-by-committee approach rather than relying so heavily on one goalscorer.
