Leeds United moved up to ninth in the Championship with a win against the Brewers.
Burton Albion goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin believes that Leeds United have everything in place to get back to the highest level and rediscover their glory days, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
McLaughlin – who supported the Whites as a youngster (via Yorkshire Evening Post) – was part of the Brewers squad that were narrowly beaten 2-0 by Garry Monk’s men at Elland Road on Saturday.

And while Leeds were underwhelming in the victory, the Burton stopper has claimed that the Yorkshire outfit now have the potential to end their top flight exile.
“For so many clubs there’s that difficulty of trying to get back to the glory days,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post. “It’s not easy because there are so many clubs now who have money to throw at it, even in this division.

“It’s only getting tougher but clubs like [Leeds] have got everything at their disposal. It’s all there ready for them when they do finally make the step back up. There’s a massive gulf between us – and that’s why we’re very proud of what we’re doing.”
The victory was Leeds’ sixth in their last nine Championship games, leaving them ninth in the table and just one point adrift of a place in the top six.

Their current position is all the more impressive given the start they made to the campaign. Leeds won just one of their opening six league games and went into their clash with Blackburn in September knowing that defeat could see them fall to the bottom of the table.
And if they continue to improve at their current rate, there can surely be no doubt that they will stand an excellent chance of living up to McLaughlin’s expectation by putting themselves right in the promotion mix.
